What are the factors affecting the extrusion blow molding process?

September 25, 2021

1. Extrusion temperature

Controlling the temperature of the extruder is the most important point in the process factors of extrusion blow molding! The adjustment of the extrusion temperature is related to the blow molding raw material. The extrusion temperature will affect the quality of the product. When the extrusion temperature is too high, it will cause uneven wall thickness on the surface of the blow molded product. When the extrusion temperature is too low, it will cause the rough surface of the parison. Therefore, when manufacturing large blow molded products, the main focus is to prevent the parison from sagging, and the temperature can be lower. When making small blow-molded products, the temperature must be higher!

2. Choose the correct raw materials

For blow molded products, the big issue of raw materials is very important! Therefore, the selection of appropriate raw materials is also an indispensable reason for extrusion blow molding process factors. The selection of raw materials depends on the performance and processing performance of the raw materials, and must meet the conditions and use requirements of blow molded products. When making hollow blow molded products, thermoplastic resins are generally used, such as HDPE.

3. Die quality and die size

Speaking of the die, we will briefly tell you that it is a device that determines the size and shape of the preform. Therefore, if you want to ensure that the blow molded product has a smooth skin and less burrs, the surface of the die must be smooth!

4. Screw speed

The speed of the screw is another important reason for the extrusion blow molding process. The speed of the screw will affect the quality of the parison. When the high extrusion speed can increase the output, it will reduce the sagging of the parison, but it will also cause the surface quality of the parison to decrease. If the shear rate is too high, it may cause the melt fracture of the plastic.
